William Blake is regarded as one of the most important visionaries of the early Romantic period. Blake worked largely as an engraver and watercolour artist, in addition to authoring poetry such as "The Lamb" and "The Tyger."
Today, Blake's literary talent much outweighs his visual creative acclaim. He was a staunch supporter of liberty and independence for all, particularly women, and his ideas on Church and state sparked debate.
I chose to write about William Blake because of his use of imagery, symbolism, metaphors, and revolutionary spirit, as well as simple language and spontaneous expression of thoughts and feelings. Throughout his life, Blake was a spiritual writer who sought to expose religious corruption and concentrate contemporary devotion on its pure foundations.
