Tupac Shakur was an influential rapper of the 1990s. He not only released several albums but also had a large role in films and poetry. Millions of people bought and still buy his albums. He was a pioneer to gangster rap, and he sang about things that mattered. Although, he was admired by many, he also had enemies who—in the end—overpowered his fans by taking his life.
Tupac was a sensitive, precociously brilliant, and tormented person who was assassinated in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996 and died six days later. His murder was never solved. Some say that he may still be alive; however, no one really knows for sure.
Tupac Shakur's music career began as a protest against the injustices of African Americans. His skill in articulating these struggles made him a spokesperson not just for his own generation, but for subsequent ones who continue to face similar struggles. As fate drove him towards the nihilism of gangster rap and into the arms of controversial figure Suge Knight, the boundaries between Shakur's art and his life became increasingly blurred—with tragic consequences.
